A big day of college football, and even what I figured to be early snoozers had some interesting starts. Cincinnati is hanging with OSU, Iowa State and Iowa are slapfighting away, and I think Michigan State might have even scored a touchdown! Though despite it all, I opted for some noon-time karma and tuned into a documentary on wolverines on Animal Planet, which taught me that wolverines like to eat mice, deer and caribou, but apparently not little green men. Which is a shame, because I hear they are “magically delicious.”
Anyway, with the big UM-ND tilt going off at 3:30 and BGSU trying to bring a fanbase off the ledge after a 3OT win against Buffalo(!) when they travel to Fla. International at 6, my work day should be nothing if not chock full o’ football. Early predictions? Michigan 24, ND 17. BGSU 55, FIU 14.
Until then, I’ll just be rolling along…
5:15pm – Where to start…?
How ’bout a good ol’ “OMG! MARIO!” for Brian…
Unfortunately, breath is still being held as Manningham headed to the sidelines holding his wrist after being attacked by his own band. Touchdown ND here late in the half, as Michigan fell into their late 4th quarter defense of last year. Should be a 20 point game heading to the break. Comfortable, but not comfortable enough.
As for the rest of the college football world, Kent State came out of nowhere to beat Miami(OH) in Oxford, combined with an Akron loss to CMU, the MAC East is on it’s ear. BG gets a very fired up Kent State team next Saturday, but has some business to deal with tonight to make sure their ship is in order.
I’ve watched bits of other games, most notably is Drew Tate coming around to realize he might *not* be the piece of crap he appeared to be in the first half and carrying Iowa to a rivalry win (and knowing his name and what state he’s in by the end of the game was a plus for him this year, too). Ohio State put things away in the second half as I figured (though I didn’t figure they’d be in danger of trailing at the half as close as they were), but a lot of people were either really happy or really, really pissed at a 30 point win with the line settling somewhere between 28.5 and 30.5.
In 33 minutes, the Internets again prove their wonderful power and glory as I’ll be watching BGSU. More updates to potentially follow, including another transcribed voice mail from a former blogger.
