The cars on the track go ’round and ’round…

As I did last year, it’s time to pick the finishing order of this year’s Indy 500, from 1-33. I realize this is a little late to be throwing out here, being 5:45 on the night before the race, and anyone from Indy who might be interested had better not be online right now (unless you’re at work, like me. Shhhhhh!), rather relishing the beautifully hot weather and free-flowing beer around every turn of this fair city.

So again, it looks like it’ll be just me and Dan. If anyone else gets in, I think the scoring system needs to be revised, something involving average positions missed or something. Definite bonus points for picking the winner, maybe some more for the number of top ten picks that actually finish in the top 10. Tiebreaker is the whoever is closest to picking Thiago Medeiros’ finishing position. There may even be a prize involved.

Anyway…

  1. Tony Kanaan
  2. Scott Dixon
  3. Dan Wheldon
  4. Helio Castroneves
  5. Tomas Scheckter
  6. Dario Franchitti
  7. Sam Hornish, Jr.
  8. Vitor Meira
  9. Danica Patrick
  10. Bryan Herta
  11. Buddy Rice
  12. Jaques Lazier
  13. Marco Andretti
  14. Michael Andretti
  15. Felipe Giaffone
  16. Townsend Bell
  17. Scott Sharp
  18. Jeff Simmons
  19. PJ Chesson
  20. Kosuke Matsuura
  21. Thiago Medeiros
  22. Jeff Bucknum
  23. Arie Luyendyk, Jr.
  24. Eddie Cheever
  25. Stephan Gregoire
  26. Al Unser, Jr.
  27. PJ Jones
  28. Larry Foyt
  29. Airton Dare
  30. Buddy Lazier
  31. Roger Yasukawa
  32. Ed Carpenter
  33. Max Papis

I really hated doing that to Max Papis, but I left him out of the mix early, and someone in the upper half or so has to have some trouble early. Max and Ed Carpenter lose out.

  1. I’ve heard of Al Unser only because he’s frequently in the crossword. Since I’ve never watched car racing and I don’t recognize anyone else’s name, I choose Al Unser as #1. The rest of the 32 people… well…I’ll take your order but I’ll swap Tony Kanaan for Al Unser.

Anyway, I was hoping you could do me a favor. You have a link to my site in your blog roll, but I’ve just recently changed my URL to mydogischelsea.com…so I can power my own WordPress blog instead of keeping on with that Xanga crap. So would you be ever so kind to change the link in your sidebar? And, natch, there’s still a link to yours on mine.

    Thanks!
    Laura

  2. Did she mean to write ‘snatch’? And if so, she’s my new favorite girl. If not, I dunno.
