Splendid! Splendid!

After a slight TiVo-related malfunction, I was able to turn on Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight with about 8 minutes left in the third. The real agony came when finally getting the TiVo reset and running (and, in turn, the whole television), they were in a delay to fix a broken pane of plexiglass, and OLN had taken the top-line score down. There were wide shots of the arena, and I could make out what I thought was a 3-0 score for the team on the right side of the board. Guessing that the home team goes on the right, I took a deep breath and waited to find out how much time was left. Then they broke into highlights. It was, in fact, 3-0, but it was Carolina with the lead. Eight minutes later and Martin Gerber had a 4-0 shutout, and the Canes won home ice back.

Which is nice.

On the downside, it was announced today that Erik Cole is officially out for the entire playoffs, which was expected, but it seemed like he was making great progress toward getting back on the ice. Meanwhile, somewhere else, I’m sure Brooks Orpik was busy molesting a collie.

  1. I’ve been having Tivo issues recently as well. I’ll be watching something that’s been Tivo’d while it’s recording something. And when there’s about 3 or 4 minutes left in the current recording, it freezes up and reboots. Frustrating as hell. Happened three times last week. I’ve really become dependent on Tivo.
