For what feels like the 3,283rd time this year, I wish I could recap a loss by BG or Michigan and legitimately blame a shitty officiating crew.
But I can’t.
While the only thing that outstunk the crew on the field at the Alamo Bowl tonight was their partner in the replay booth, Michigan had every chance to put that game away by halftime. And then again in the fourth quarter. But once again, stumbling and bumbling and missing field goals caught up with them in a familiar fashion.
But, for whatever reason, they decided to take entire series off. Then come back and march down an opponent’s throat and look like the preseason top five team that they were. At least they made it entertaining at the end. (And what a clusterfuck that would have been if Ecker would have gone the distance. Or pitched to someone that did!)
Needless to say, Michigan is probably the hands down greatest five-loss team in college football history. Some consolation, huh?
So, with a week or so worth of games left, the 2005 college football season is, in effect, over for me. And from where the expectations of UM and BG stood barely four months ago to where they wound up today, I think the word “disappointing” is an understatement.
It’s been a bad football year. The Browns are about to go 0-for-the division this year and BGSU went south after the QB got busted up. At least OSU was decent.
Tony, I hoped the enjoyed your trip to San Antonio yesterday.
So where did the Saints practice this week?
“Bad” doesn’t really do most of it justice, unfortunately.
I wish I could have been in San Antonio yesterday, if only for the postgame commiserating. At least the weather here in Indy was decent.
