BlogPoll Week 7

Whew. I almost forgot to send this in.

Despite thoughts that I would put Texas in the top spot over USC, I don’t think that’s going to happen just yet. As was pointed out at MGoBlog, the Texas win over OSU loses a little of it’s luster everytime the OSU offense takes the field, although it was still, I think, a stronger performance than anything USC has put out thus far. USC had a tight one with Arizona, but did it with a gimpy Reggie Bush. A USC win over Notre Dame this weekend in South Bend would solidify them as number one, a loss obviously drops them out, so I’m going to keep them in the top spot by a hair with the big one coming up on Saturday. Incidentally, the gap between Va. Tech and Georgia at three and four is a pretty similar story. They’re really interchangeable at this point in time, although I still think there’s a fairly solid bubble over the top two teams. After that, things slowly start to sink into the filth and muck of one and two loss teams, until I gave up for spots 20-25 and just painted ten lab rats in various school colors and timed them through a maze. Top five to the cheese get spots in the poll.

Southern Cal
Texas
Virginia Tech
Georgia
Florida State
Alabama-First Prothro-less test this weekend. Are they for real? How much of a lead is enough to pull the starters in the first half?
Miami (Florida) – Beat the crap out of Duke, because, uh… Duke is Duke.
Louisiana State – Pulled a Middle Tennessee State on Vandy.
Florida
Penn State – Stopping the Ohio State offense is worth something. Probably just a smartass comment, though.
Notre Dame – Charlie Weis is looking through the phone book for any kids named “Lupus” to visit on Thursday.
Boston College
UCLA
Michigan State
Cal
Minnesota
Ohio State
Louisville
Fresno State
Colorado
Tennessee
Auburn
Oregon
Texas Tech
Wisconsin

Please forgive me for the lack of detail after the top four explanation, the games I watched can be found here, and since the last third of the poll is a pile of steaming crap anyway, those that “just missed” includes any school above .500 at this point. Any glaring mistakes or omissions can be shouted about in the comments. Thanks.
