For the first time in 15 years, I took a driver’s test today. Fortunately, I fared much better now than I did back then, but I still think it’s crap. The BMV is crap. Just because I freaking move states doesn’t mean I forget how to drive. They complain that the BMV’s are overcrowded and losing money or whatever, but I bet it has nothing to do with making people that have been driving for 15 years, and have a virtually clean (completely clean in the last 9 years) record come in to take a damn written test, then wait in line for an hour AFTER they’ve checked it to take a damn picture. It was silly.
Even more silly is that I think one of the two questions I missed was something close to “What does a yellow light mean?” You’d think that, even though I haven’t seen Taxi recently, that I’d remember that. (See post title for reference.) Actually, if that one is the one I missed, I don’t think it was because I don’t know what to do when a light turns yellow, its just that there was no gray area in the answer. It was either “stop, regardless” or “you have to be through the intersection before the light turns red”. See what I mean? It’s D-U-M-B, stupid!
And does anyone know how far before a turn you have to have your turn signal on for? Stupid.
Finally, I’d like to thank the Rangers for waking up today, beating Anaheim 18-5. A pitcher goes nutso on the media, and they’ve won two straight. I’m willing to sacrifice half the bullpen if thats a sign of anything.
100 feet before the intersection.
