bring out your dead!

Okay, so I stole the headline, but as mentioned a couple weeks ago, I’ve found a “death pool” to get in on, and I’m starting to realize that picking people to die in the next year is hard work! I need fifteen names, and I’ve struggled to get to eight. Maybe I’m just overthinking it, trying to get the “right” people to die, but its tough. Updates later when I finalize the list, but suggestions are MORE than welcome.

Just as I was just about completely fed up with the Browns, thanks to that 17 yard offensive explosion they put on the board in Buffalo Sunday, they go and do something to get me excited. According to his wife, and confirmed in a phone conversation by WUPW-TV in Toledo, the Browns will sign former Bowling Green quarterback Josh Harris to a contract as a back-up QB tomorrow. I don’t know what this says for his prospects of sticking around for awhile, as the Browns passed him up in this past year’s draft to take Luke McCown in the fourth round, while the evil Ravens took Harris in the sixth. Hopefully he can get some playing time to prove some things, get an invite to camp next year, and work on getting a spot in the lineup. Who knows what role Kelly Holcomb will play on this team in the future, he seems to be only good when he has less than 30 minutes to prepare for a game, Jeff Garcia is injured again, as well as getting on in years, and words like “lost” and “confused” have been used to describe McCown’s play the past few weeks, maybe this is an opening Harris can exploit. I hope he can. I don’t know about his pro potential, but he’s stepped up when needed to in the past, and I have faith in his ability as an athlete to give it what he’s got.

Of course, the Browns need alot of help in other areas, too, which means that while I’m excited to see if Harris will get some playing time down the stretch, I’m also afraid that throwing him into a game behind that swiss cheese of an offensive line might hurt not only his psyche, but also some key body parts as well. Either way, right now I’m happy that I don’t have to root for him as a Raven anymore, and can root even harder since he’s a member of the Browns!!!

(Browns’ Update: William Green is still running the ball in my living room, about 4 more carries and he might make it to the other end of the couch.)
