Out of the cave…

While it felt good to get a good chunk of painting work done on the house this weekend, it felt weird yesterday when I finally got a chance to check e-mail and surf around a bit. Normally, I check e-mail semi-neurotically, and have stretches where I wander past the same websites enough in a meandering circle that I’m surprised one of them doesn’t pop up with a message like, “Dude, you were just here. Nothing’s changed.” And with a house that consists of nothing more than electricity and water, the radio is pretty much my link to the outside world.

So you can understand why I might have missed this news in Central Indiana.

Ron Francis

I’ve been a Ron Francis fan pretty much since I started following hockey real close in the mid-80’s, and aside from the “what the hell are they trying to pull!?!?” trip through Pittsburgh, he’s spent his whole career with “my” team. I even, unknowingly at the time, saw his last game for the Whalers/Hurricanes franchise in Columbus a few years back. I wish I had known at the time, I would have paid more attention to him specifically than to the rest of the game, which I don’t remember the result, anyway.

Making the Hall of Fame is ridiculously deserved, and I’m glad to see he was recognized his first time through. Congrats Ronnie Franchise!!

  1. Completely unrelated to absolutely anything, but I just noticed that Red Dawn is on AMC right now. What an absolutely fantastic choice for the 4th of July. I’m not sure if this is some sort of misplaced patriotism or someone’s idea of tongue-in-cheek programming, but regardless… it’s awesome.

Now I just need to get the diatribe from the radio announcer from GTA: Vice City out of my head and I’m all set.
