Maybe it’s just the whole “child of the 80’s” thing I have going on, but I believe it’s entirely possible that, as a whole, 1983 was the greatest year in music history.
This week in ’83 was the subject of Sirius 80’s countdown this weekend. I was impressed. So I looked it up online, and I’m all but blown away. I realize it’s not necessarily the greatest from a pure musical standpoint, but I dare you to go more than two or three entries on that list without smiling and/or saying “wow”.
Then consider it doesn’t include at the very least “Dirty Laundry” by Don Henley, which has inspired, in my mind and probably my mind only, an idea for a great website and/or band name.
No mention of Asia’s Alpha album, but otherwise, that’s a great list and 83 is right up there!!
XM has Casey Casem’s original AT40 countdowns on every weekend, it’s awesome to hear him count them down and I remember thinking “March of 84… damn that’s some good music!” I’ll have to keep my ears open for an 83 show.
I always thought everyone (Excluding Homer Simpson) knoew that Rock music achieved perfection in 1994.
