Upon further review…

I had a post mostly written last night wondering about USC’s leap over Michigan in the AP (and subsequently the BCS) poll this week, based on a win over a Notre Dame team that wasn’t as impressive in many ways as the way Michigan deflowered the Irish in South Bend in September. Then I realized that if you wipe the respective ND games off the board as a push, USC may have a slightly more impressive schedule (though a far less “impressive” loss, I’d say) thanks to the Big Ten going down like a French whore after the top two teams.

That said, I’d be really curious to know if voters that flipped USC above Michigan this week are really voting for who they believe is the #2 team in the country, or are they voting strictly to avoid an OSU-Michigan rematch?

Oh yeah, and I’m also completely convinced that Florida needs to shut the hell up. If you put a I-AA team on your schedule in late November, you lose all right to complain. Hell, throw a MAC team or a Sun Belt team on there. Even C-USA would do. Take a bye week. Playing W. Carolina at that time doesn’t sit well with me, and neither does a number of close wins. I’m not of the camp that thinks winning by 50 is a necessity, but putting teams away early certainly earns you points when a spot in the BCS title game is up for grabs.

(UPDATE: As expected, Brian does a much better job of laying it out, and I think he comes to a similar conclusion. Also, the comments section is full of some goodness, too.)
