College affiliations aside, how can you not root for a team led by a guy named Hibbert? If there’s one thing this year’s tournament will be remembered for other than some surprises in the Sweet 16 (and Billy Packer, in turn, getting the Shocker), it has to be some of the great names in the tournament. The aforementioned Hibbert, Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Squeaky Johnson… Hell, Pitt put Aaron Gray on the court today! (Unfortunately it wasn’t this “Erin Gray“, of “Silver Spoons” fame.)
 Other tourney notes…
-Arizona can stop being so upstart right now. I just might need Villanova to win this freaking tournament. (And, of course, by “might”, I mean, “HOLY CRAP VILLANOVA!!! WIN THIS FREAKING TOURNAMENT!)
-On the women’s side, a very successful BG season came to an end today, with a loss to UCLA. A 28-2 record, 19-game winning streak and a conference tournament title was rewarded by a 12-seed and a matchup with one of the nation’s hotter teams, apparently. At least that chick from Tennessee “dunked”, so the women’s tourney got it’s highlight out of the way early. It’s so much more than I could do on any rim over 8 1/2 feet, but please come back when your “dunks” stop looking like fierce layups.
