Pushing eight or nine beers later, the recap of Day 1 of the Big 10 men’s tournament is less than spectacular. Penn State-Northwestern just about put me to sleep. (Although the Wildcats’ frantic run towards 40 points was an eye-opener!) Michigan had control of the game against Minnesota (despite just a six-point lead), then went into their typical late-season mode, and decided not to make a bucket for about eight minutes it seemed, and that was the ballgame. Purdue hung around longer than I figured against Michigan State, but in the end, it wasn’t enough. What I learned there was… I hate Sparty. Blech.
With the lack of a notepad and/or laptop, the only thought I can recall right now is that Penn State’s mascot was clearly sewn together by Joe Paterno himself… in his 7th grade Home Ec class.
