Welcome to hell

News just came down that Kevin Millwood has signed with the Rangers, which makes me extremely happy…for now.

With an Indian fan father, and a Red Sox fan brother, Millwood’s former team and one of the major teams courting him, I’m happy. Of course, on the same note, when he’s 4-12 at the All-Star Break with an ERA rivaling the GNP of Belize (that being 12), I have every right to curse the name of his children, his children’s children, and his children’s children’s children (for three months). And, with Adam Eaton and a potentially moderately effective (on occasion) Vincente Padilla in the rotation, this could possibly be the best Rangers pitching staff in 15 years. (Of course, it’s still a fraction of that pitching staff, which included Nolan Ryan and Kevin Brown.) If the bats can pick up the void filled by the absence of Alfonso Soriano, and the AL West can be as delightfully average as it has been in the past few years, the boys could possibly be sniffing the playoffs, I think.
