TOUCHDOWN BROWNS!

I really wasn’t going to get into the live thing with the Browns game, especially after a handful of 6 yard runs given up and a 30-some yard TD pass. But a solid, if not horribly efficient, touchdown drive changed my mind.

First things first, the dumb penalties need to stop. Thankfully they got one back with some P.I. in the endzone leading to the touchdown, but a couple big plays were brought back on that drive for dumb things. And after a tip drill pick, they’re back to shooting themselves in the foot. Get the hands to the face-induced first down, and give five back on the false start.

Frustrating.

I don’t know if Jim Nantz could be any happier broadcasting this game from Green Bay if Tiger Woods was playing. And with first and goal again, the Browns start going backwards. Again.

Browns up 10-7 after a Dawson field goal. (I KNEW they’d hold a lead at some point today!) Then some more soft defense before tightening up and forcing a punt. More penalties and a Browns punt. THIS is looking more like a Browns game I recognize, now…

Huge break with an early whistle on the Droughns fumble. As much as I’m liking what I’m seeing from Droughns, there’s been some sloppy ballhandling out there. And close to field goal range. Early penalty aside and LudaCutt has been having a hell of a first half.

So this is the point where the liveblogging takes a hit. I think the Browns went up 13-7 right around this point, and then…

Stuff happened.

Stuff happened.

GO BRAYLON! GO BRAYLON! C’MON BRAYLONG! WOOOOHOOOO!!!

Stuff happened.

Bad zone defense-related stuff happened.

Why the hell are we passing? Why are we passing? Why are we… GO STEVE! GO STEVE! C’MON STEVE! WOOOHOOOO!!!!

From there, more soft defense, although this might have been the coaching move of the year. You know that Brett Favre can go down and score 83,000 points in three minutes. He’s done it before. So you make it look like he’s doing it again. But in the meantime, all you’re doing is making his linemen run a series of 12 (and then 30) yard sprints to the line. GENIUS!

Of course, I was still cursing the daylights out of CBS when, with 15 or so seconds left, they were running graphics and their mouths about “Trent Dilfer’s first win in Lambeau Field”… ARE YOU ASSHATS TRYING TO JINX US!?!?!? SHEESH!

Anyway, Browns win! Browns win! Browns win!

(And so on and so forth…)
