Little bastard shot me in the ass…

Not that 85% of all Deadspin comment threads aren’t totally worth reading, but I have a feeling this one will be special.

I was just thinking of this last night, as USA ran Blazing Saddles at 1am, virtually unedited (as far as my sleepy ears could tell, I mean, they left in the old lady dropping the “n-word”, what more could they have cut?), how this movie is slowly starting to move into “Caddyshack” territory as far as quotability. This isn’t a bad thing, as it forces one to dig deeper to find even more subtle, memorable quotes to drop at a moments notice. Unfortunately, it seems like everyone knows just enough of the common lines to drive them into a miserable death. That’s why I give major props to Deadspin weekender MJD for dropping a Number Six Dance reference in the original post.

Now, let’s play chess!

  1. I can think of thirty or forty lines from this, my favorite comedy movie of all time. They did drop a couple of “sh*t” bombs…

“Never mind that sh*t…here comes Mongol!”

    Other favorites:

“How about a round of applause…for the Waco Kid?”

“Baby, I am not from Havana.”

“Excuse me while I whip this out.”

    “Baby, you are so talented.”

Of course, the funniest moments are subtle…like at the end as Bart rides out of Rock Ridge and Jim is lying on the bale of hay with the box of movie popcorn.

Cleavon Little died way too young.
