This is actually pretty cool…

I’ve made my thoughts known on the whole “over-sappifying” of September 11 memorials (I think a simple search to the bottom left or find each post made on Sept. 11 to see what I mean), but while looking for high school football scores tonight, I found something pretty cool.

Seems three kids, 17 years old, from my former high school have been spending the last six weeks or so walking to New York City. It’s about 650 miles, and they swung through the United 93 crash site on the way. With all that’s going to be done in the next couple weeks about the fifth anniversary of the attack, its kinda cool to see these kids doing this. Of course, the only reason I’m posting it is because of the high school they happen to go to, but in the end, its a pretty good thing to think that maybe not ALL of America’s youth is out to bring us down.

For more about the kids, and a link to donate to their cause if you so desire, check out the MySpace page they made for the trip.

(As far as the football score goes… um… not so good.)

  1. Yeah, they’ve profiled these kids on the local news. It is pretty cool! One of the kids is kind of big and he had some trouble with the heat and actually passed out from heat exhaustion early on in the trip. They’ve raised some $$ and the awareness of NWOhio and now some of Central Indiana too. :-)
