There’s so much more I’ve thought to say about the Hurricanes Stanley Cup win Monday night, but haven’t found the time, energy or sobriety to get it done. I’ve watched the last 1:30 of the game at least four more times, and that doesn’t highlight feeds at work. (Which is a project I’ve realized I have ahead of me for the weekend, but that’s another story.)
Anyhow, in between the no time to post thoughts, I’ve also contemplated a redesign of the site. Partly because I feel like it, mostly because I’d love something with a bigger content area. Right now I’m around 330px, I’d like to at least get to the 425px width that YouTube demands.
Why? So I can post goosebump-inducing videos like this one.
Of all my plans to collect/purchase commemorative items of the Cup win, the top of the list is finding something with all or at least most of the Canes’ radio call of the win. Chuck Kaiton has been their announcer for as long as they’ve been an NHL franchise (including Hartford), and his recognizable voice cracked through more than a few NW Ohio nights (including a Game 6 win over Montreal the night of my senior prom). While I’m not a fan of prepared celebratory calls of games, and Chuck K’s “9,394-or-whatever games in the NHL…” bit was painfully awkward, I was too busy grinning like an idiot to notice.
