3 1/2 minutes

I wasn’t planning on paying much attention to the NFL Draft today, and even when I gave in, it only took three and a half minutes to remember why.

ESPN is staffed by a bunch of blowhard idiots morons.

More specifically, that’s how long it took to hear two moronic Chris Berman “look how smart and funny and witty I am, leather” comments, and five seconds of Suzy Kolber on-camera to make me wish Joe Namath on her. She’s interviewing Reggie Bush with this star-crossed “oh my God, what a magnificent story, will you have sex with me on this table?” look on her face, slowly shaking her head back and forth as if Bush was telling her how he not only rescued 15 orphans from a raging housefire, but he went back in and saved each of their puppies, then back in to grab Little Timmy’s teddy bear, and finally blew the fire out like the candles on a birthday cake, all while figuring out a cure for cancer in his head. (When in fact, I believe his exact quote was “Uh, it’s good to play football again, know where my moms can get a house?”)

And Berman’s “gems” were worse than that. The icing on the cake, 35 minutes into a day of draft coverage, was, “If the Titans can somehow play 4 or 5 games in the Rose Bowl each year, they’ll be undefeated!” Except that they play a 16-game schedule now, lard ass. Seriously, does he practice these in the mirror? And if so, doesn’t the mirror give up at some point and tell him he’s not funny?

I wasn’t expecting to liveblog today, but it might be inevitable now. Be warned, it’ll be half-assed and mostly Browns-centric at best.

2:09pm – I was REALLY hoping the Browns could rape the Ravens a little harder than that. If you’re gonna trade to your rival who’s only a spot behind you, they must REALLY REALLY want who you’re about to take. Getting a sixth rounder out of that situation seems weak to me. (Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Ravens continue to upgrade their defensive line by trading up to pick some of those chicks in the background of the Ngata intervew from Vegas. Especially the one that was throwing gang signs in the corner.)

In the end, I don’t think the Browns could have lost with that pick, there were three quality D-linemen waiting, and they got a late round pick out of it. Oh, and Chris Berman still managed to find a way to muck it up and make the whole waiting game much less enjoyable for all of us. Dick.

12:09am, Sunday -  Yeah, that was alot more sporadic than I even figured it would be. Anyway, I think the Browns might have done decent today, I’ve heard alot of good things about D’Qwell Jackson. Like, really D’Good D’Things. No idea on the WR they took in the third round out of Oklahoma, as the work day took a turn for the crazy right about then.

All the speculation that BG QB Omar Jacobs might be a first day pick was off, unfortunately, though with all the QB’s slotted ahead of him off the board, he’ll likely go in the early moments of Sunday. I hope. Interestingly enough, while ESPN listed about eight BG players on their draft sheet, NFL.com only had Omar. I would have figured Charles Sharon, Steve Sanders and PJ Pope would have gotten mentioned on both, at least, but I guess not. Look for Omar to go tomorrow and 3-5 Falcons sign UDFA deals on Monday.

There was a laundry list of things I wanted to bring up but didn’t get the chance to during the day, but the main one is Andrea Kremer. NBC had her doing extensive draft updates during intermissions of the NHL Playoffs today, and it was pretty rough. Not just her usual goat-eyed appearance, but the whole delivery. She may be a big part of their NFL coverage this fall, but you’d think you’d bring out one of your bigger guns to cover the first big day since you got an NFL deal back. Al Michaels must not do Sunday afternoons in April.
