Potpourri for $500, Alex

-There might not be much that can improve your mood after an unusually busy night of work that also included your alma mater getting embarrassed in the conference tourney and a likeable baseball player passing away, but “The Rain” by Oran ‘Juice’ Jones comes close.

-Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik (henceforth known as “The Bitch”) was suspended for three games by the NHL today. Three games. Three. Erik Cole’s career season is cut short by a cheap shot, and this jackass ECHL-level goon sits three games. Unbelievable.

NHL figurehead Colin Campbell claims, “it is apparent that there was no deliberate intent to injure on this play…” No? A two hand shove in the back as you ride a guy into the boards isn’t deliberate enough?

-I can’t believe I forgot to mention Sunday night’s L&O: Criminal Intent episode, which not only included Jessie Spano as the suspect, but Shooter McGavin as her attorney. Freakin’ sweet.

-Even freakin’ sweeter? Puppy curling.
