With the 2006 college football season still a shade under seven months away, I uncovered a nice little nugget re: the 2008 season.

The Cliff’s Notes version is that Minnesota will be playing at Doyt Perry Stadium on September 6. Consider this my vacation notice for that weekend.

Looking further into the schedule, Minnesota has a home open date vs. a to-be-determined MAC opponent in 2007, although you’d think if the road date was filled, they’d have BG on board and named for that date already. Could it be possible that BG won’t have to play the return date until 2010 at the earliest? Or that they got away with a one-and-done against a solid Big Ten team?

I’m inclined to think that former BG head coach and current Minnesota Moe Ankney had a hand in making this happen, but either way, this is another outstanding job of scheduling by Paul Krebs at the BG football staff.
