Wham with the right hand!

What a depressing day.

I mean, sure, the sun came up for a bit (I think), and I’m living and breathing, but man was it a rough one on the sporting front.

Bowling Green hoops was down eight or so at Bradley. Then down 15+. Then cut it back to 11 at halftime. Next time I checked the score, they were down 20-something. It got to the thirties with plenty of time left, but fortunately (?) BG held it to a 29 point difference at the end.

Then, in a random check of Ohio high school hoops scores, I see that my alma mater lost by 50 or something to their main rival. I only check their score when I get a wild hair to do so, but that could be a long season coming up.

I didn’t check a final, but last I saw, Carolina was losing to Phoenix by four or twelve goals. A great start followed by the up-and-down nights I’ve come to expect from that franchise.

At least BG hockey got one back against Michigan State tonight, and Michigan hoops knocked off Notre Dame. Doesn’t really make up for football, but to get that win in South Bend is nice. Always good to shut up the Irish.

A bright spot on the way home (through the ice and the potential of white death on the way!!!) was catching the Cavs game on Sirius. They, too, were getting hammered by the Clippers, but it was awesome to hear Joe Tait’s voice calling the game. I don’t even know if I’ve listened to a full Cavs game in my life, or if I’ve even heard parts of more than a couple dozen games (and even that’s a stretch!), but he is just awesome to listen to. One of the greats in the NBA, if you ask me. It’s usually just him, describing the game, talking to himself and casually filling in the blanks. None of this former player analyst crap talking about “ones” and “twos” and whatever else that gets so horribly annoying to listen to. It made me wish I had the home kit for the Sirius, especially since it doesn’t look like they make a boombox for the Starmate receiver.

(And yes, that was a big hint to friends, family, Romans, countrymen, etc. in this time of holiday giving…)

  1. Thats right bow down to the might of the Perrysburg Yellow jackets. Certainly makes up for that loss during the football season
