Take me out to the….water park?

What you’re about to see is from about an hour AFTER the scheduled time for the first pitch of the baseball game I was a half block from attending tonight:

OMG RAIN!

Yeah, just when we thought the steady drizzle had let up and they might get a game in, the skies opened up and Mother Nature pulled the plug on the drain.

I don’t think I realized it until now, but I was really kind of disappointed that the rains came. While I live in Indianapolis, and am trying to be an Indians fan (Triple A variety, not the NE Ohio bandwagon variety), they were playing the Toledo Mud Hens for the International League championship. I grew up watching the Mud Hens play, and while they play at a different stadium now, and are affiliated with the stinkin’ Tigers, it still would have been cool to see them win the championship in person. They haven’t won one since 1967, and…uh… I wasn’t quite alive then.

Hopefully some scheduling quirk will allow them to play a makeup game one of these days at noon, and I just might be able to make it. If not, at least the thought of Toledo winning a championship reminded me of all the guys I grew up watching who just couldn’t get it done. (Though they were very, very close a few times!)

  1. Um, yeah. Game started at 8:35pm or so. We could have stayed I guess and maybe saw 3 innings before wheeling a damp and sleep 2 year old outta there…but I’ll just hope for a little magic from the Tribe tonight and then go see game 4 tomorrow….unless game three never makes it.
