hug a cop!

So I survived the weekend. Or day and a half, however you want to put it. Friday night was pretty solid, I got to see alot more people than I thought I would, and saw most of them again on Saturday, not to mention some people I had hoped to avoid. But you’ll have that with a work seminar combining three companies when you’ve put at least some temporary work in at all three of them.

I was, however, disappointed that when the keynote speaker was being introduced at the head table as “a man who needs no introduction”, my reply (softly, but definitely loud enough for my table, in the back corner, by the damn fine prime rib trays, could hear) “Fred ‘The Dorf’ Dorfman!” got little more than a couple blank stares. Sometimes I wonder if ANYONE is cultured anymore. For the record, though, the lunch spread was terrific, and dessert was even better. Another apple-type dessert (I think this walked a fine line between strudel and pie) with a healthy scoop of cinnamon ice cream. And even with a belly full of meat and potatoes, I threw it down. Not quite as impressive as the throw-down a couple weeks ago with much more ice cream, which really, the word “throw down” doesn’t really do what I did that night justice, unless you’re talking a good ol’ fashioned Sir Mix-A-Lot-esque “Triple X throw down”, which I don’t think this was, since I failed to toss it, leave it OR roll up quick to retrieve it, but it was a shoveling nonetheless.

Today would have been a nice day to golf, though a Sunday morning with some of the first nice golfing weather of the year meant likely a billion and one people waiting to tee off. In that case I can wait. Looking at the weather report for the next week and a half, though, I think I might kick myself for not trying to get out. I have a small village of golf balls waiting for the season to get underway, and its just not happening.
