25 Boise State 2

Dropped Out: Miami (Florida) (#16), Texas Tech (#22), Pittsburgh (#24).

Now, my reasons (though this week, they’re REALLY few and far between, since I felt the process flowed pretty well, and I didn’t feel like anyone was too out of place, either high or low):

Michigan might be a tad high, but in the words of Tom, a former blogger around these parts and OSU alum, in the voicemail I alluded to on Saturday, “Sweet fancy Moses! What the f*ck happened with that team?!?! Dear holy God! It’s bizarre enough that I’m rooting, cheering, yelling for Michigan, that makes me feel dirty in itself … at least fatass is going down hard. I’m sure he’ll console himself with a side of beef and 6-8 pies. That’s all I’ve got, I just wanted to say ‘sweet fancy Moses’ to someone. Bye.”

Yes, sweet fancy 4th-ranked Moses indeed. Of course, the next five weeks of “top of the Little 8” goodness will either solidify this position or send the currently raucous U-M fanbase into a tailspin, but that’s not what this poll is for this week, is it?

Help or no, Auburn and Oregon got the job done, albeit it a little close for comfort and at home in each case. Auburn is only penalized a hair because of the number USC did on Nebraska, without too much help from the officials. Besides, spots 2-6 or 7 are damn near interchangeable at this point, from week to week in my opinion. LSU only drops five spots, while Oklahoma drops a bunch, because they handled their loss like a bunch of little bitches. Not just Saturday afternoon, not even Sunday morning, but its still going. WAAAAH!

I had initially tried to get Rutgers in at 24, if only for putting Ohio U. fans in their drug-induced place, but Michigan State actually looked impressive in what I saw of them at Pittsburgh, who I previously had ranked. Don’t worry, Scarlet Knights, MSU only has six wins each season, and they done used up three of ’em already!

WHAT I WATCHED: Rotated through OSU-UC, MSU-Pitt, Iowa-Iowa State… caught glimpses of CMU-Akron, Kent State-Miami(OH) and Buffalo-NIU and the whole BG-FIU game online… most of the UM-ND game, although parts of that were tough to watch in the late stages, and I’m pretty sure was illegal in most states (I’m kidding, I watched most of it and loved damn near all of it)… some USC-Nebraska (funny looking ankle injuries aside), the end of Florida-Tennessee… some Ball State-Purdue… and here-and-there glimpses of Indiana losing one to a I-AA school for their coach. AH! And the end of Army-A&M, where common sense took a backseat during the last two stupid sweep of a running play when a shot at the endzone THEN a running play would have been the move to make.

Maize N Brew has the new roundtable up, and it looks kind of fun. That can come tomorrow.

If you’ve stuck with me this long, Episode 2 of “Rolling Along: The Podcast” is also available, if you’re down for 31 minutes of BGSU chatter. But for the second effort, I think it’s sounding pretty good.
