Bilas, Esq.&#8221; (it is &#8220;Esq.&#8221;, right?). Basketball player, Duke grad, basketball player, lawyer, basketball player, ESPN commentator, and did I mention basketball player?<\/p>\n<p>I always wondered, when I heard Jay Bilas&#8217; law career mentioned, if he was the real deal, or if he just passed the bar at some point on a bet and called himself a lawyer. (I mean, does anyone know if &#8220;The Fight Doctor&#8221; Ferdie Pacheco is <em>really<\/em> a doctor? I know that Dr. J wasn&#8217;t, and neither was Bill Cosby, though he played one on TV.) Regardless, getting back to Bilas. Apparently, he&#8217;s a real lawyer, with quite the lengthy resume. Unfortunately, the resume consists mostly of his basketball highlights, including the word &#8220;basketball&#8221; in each of it&#8217;s five paragraphs.<\/p>\n<p>But the real joy is at the end. I can&#8217;t say for sure what kind of landmark cases have been pored over in the halls of Moore &#038; Van Allen&#8217;s across the South, but if <a target=\"_blank\" title=\"Bilas vs. Purple Dinosaur\" href=\"http:\/\/caselaw.lp.findlaw.com\/scripts\/getcase.pl?navby=search&#038;case=\/data2\/circs\/4th\/992255p.html\">bringing down Barney<\/a> isn&#8217;t one of them, I don&#8217;t even need to see the rest of their resume.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perhaps not all Dookies are the devil&#8230; Submitted for your perusal, the bio page of &#8220;Jay S.
