I already laid out plans for my top ten<\/a> (it’s at the bottom), and I think for the most part that’ll stay pretty solid. Florida’s win, while impressive, doesn’t seem as much so after some reading, and I’m not sure that Virginia Tech is all that worthy of ranking inflation until they play someone (this week, Georgia Tech viruses aside). <\/p>\n

I don’t know if I have the dedication to Talk Like A Pirate Day<\/a> that Brian at MGoBlog<\/a> has to make this a themed entry, but I think it’s fair enough to dedicate it to the memory of my old Ohio license plates:

USC – The way Vandy made Arkansas their bitch, I’m surprised the Hogs even showed up in SoCal. Or did they?
\nTexas – Again, insert Rice-related metaphor here.
\nLSU – Someday, they’ll play again. In the end, I think they were saved by a few holes in the next couple teams arguments, and ASU’s 28,671 yard outburst on Saturday.
\nVirginia Tech – Smacked Ohio U. in the mouth with the cold hand of reality.
\nFlorida – Impressive win, yes. At home and a semi-lethargic second half put them at five. (Or actually, “3c”)
\nGeorgia – If you blow out the patsies too early, the alumni won’t stick around for the halftime show.
\nFSU – I know the Citadel. The Citadel is a friend of mine. Boston College, you’re no Citadel. (Thank God!)
\nLouisville – The Beav didn’t notice Louisville had their fingers crossed when they gave them ten points to start with. Or that they were sleeping with their sisters under the bleachers.
\nOhio State – How can Troy Smith seem so electrifying, yet that offense seem so bland?
\nTennessee – We wear caps and sleeves at this level, son. And play two halves.
\nPurdue – Nice win. Not sure if it means much though against the “PAC 10 Also-Ran Division”.
\nArizona State – Performance Saturday made Texas Tech look like a ball-control offense.
\nAlabama – What I meant to say in Week 1 is, “Alabama is going to be a good team, and surprise a bunch of people in and around the SEC”, not “Warren<\/a> sent me a book about Alabama fans and I’m really hard up for a 25th team.”
\nGeorgia Tech – Change in mid-season marketing plans… “Yellow Jacket football…. CATCH IT!”
\nMiami (FL) – Sometimes the best defense is the one where you let the other team piss down their leg.
\nMichigan – Gets extra points for the “Jeff Genyk I’m Really Happy To Be Here Look”.
\nMichigan State – Probably deserves to flip spots with U-M based on the “If A beats B and C beats A” hypothesis, but their defense is making a habit of going Houdini on the rest of the team. (No, not “Whodini”, “Houdini”.)
\nUCLA – The TCU of the West Coast
\nIowa – Nothing like finding a new rivalry with the local I-AA team when you can’t beat the first rival.
\nCal – Booya!
\nTexas A&M – Next week, A.C. Slater leads Bayside High into College Station.
\nBoston College – Could have packed it in, but didn’t. Still blew it in a poorly lit stadium in front of a national audience and ESPN’s “C” team announcers.
\nNotre Dame – Charlie like candy. Charlie no like option pitchout and crappy tackling.
\nVirginia – Did enough on the road to maintain.
\nWisconsin – A bit of a tossup here, but Brian Calhoun is throwing up sick numbers (still) and going to 3-0 after a road win is #25-worthy. <\/p>\n

Dropped out: Fresno State, Clemson, Oklahoma<\/p>\n

Just missed: Minnesota, Oregon, Texas Tech (scary good offense, but I think even Illinois could do that against the ladies on the Red Raiders schedule)<\/p>\n

Watched: Most of UM-EMU, parts at the start and all 4th quarter and OT of ND-MSU, bits of Cuse-UVA and UL-Oregon State (around UM game), some FSU-BC. I think there were a couple more, but those were the main ones.<\/p>\n

I’ll leave this be for awhile, if anyone has any questions, comments or complaints, feel free. I knew this is why I should have done this on Saturday night…. too many opportunities for sights and sounds to slip through my Swiss cheese brain by Monday evening.<\/p>\n

And, in closing, a reminder of the type of class they can only teach at Marshall, “The GED Night Class on the Ohio”…<\/p>\n
