...I love it when you call me Big Papi

Lance Carter either has rocks the size of softballs, or is the dumbest SOB on the face of this planet. I don't know of anyone else in the world who would intentionally incite David Ortiz to try and kick their ass. If it wasn't for Toby Hall who did an amazing job of not being thrown aside like a rag doll, Carter would be talking out his ear today.
I personally think that Carter should be sat down for at least six games (reasonable enough for a reliever.) Aside from Rick Ankiel, there is no one in the Major Leagues who could lose control of an 83mph fastball right toward someone's earhole.
And on the subject of suspensions, Dewon Brazelton (who?) should be sent down past the minors into junior high school. Even thirteen year old girls have better technique than trying to claw someone's eyes out. I think they stop that at about eleven.
We'll just have to wait and see if the commissioner's office decides to get their heads out of each other's asses and do something.

...movin' on up?

I woke up this morning as a resident of Cincinnati. I have a week before I start work, and plan on using that time to sort a few things out.
1. I will NOT ever cheer for the Bengals.
2. The Reds might grow on me. Sort of in the way that athlete's foot grows. I mean, they don't compete directly with the Sox, so I might pull for them a bit.
3. I have to train myself not to say Cincitucky. People can get pretty sensitive about that around here.

So, that's about it for now. I hope to get into this job and love it, or find something better. But, Cincinnati should be a much better place for us than Findlay. More opportunity and things to do, in general, that should keep us busy.

...Gary Sheffield

First, I would like to say that if the "fan" at Fenway thursday night did take a swing at Sheffield he deserves to lose his tickets. Even though Sheffield is an all around jackass and 'roid head, the guy has no business at a major league game if he was trying to deck a player.
That said, I want to commend Gary Sheffield, an admitted steroid user, for controlling his rage and only punching two women rather than launching himself into the stands at the jerk that may or may or may not have taken a swing at him.

...I thought I was a failure before, but

I received my BGSU alumni magazine in the mail today. As usual, I turned to the back pages where there are small snippets about alumni and their whereabouts. I checked to see if anyone I had gone to school with was doing anything of note when I saw "Josh Harris 'o4- Signed with the Cleveland Browns."
I understand that I am an undersized, slow white boy from NW Ohio, but do I need to be reminded that there are people THAT much more successful than me? I was happy for the kids getting their law degrees and good jobs, but anyone who can read a newspaper already knew that he made the NFL. If your success makes it into newspapers, please don't send it into the university to remind the rest of us with our phony degrees that you will make more money in a year than the rest of us will in our lives.
I wish Josh Harris success. I hope the Browns don't ruin him like they have other QB's. I just wish I didn't have to read it next to some guy whose new dreamjob just got overshadowed because his name came before Harris in the class of '04.
